Background

Intercultural Nursing Inc. (INI) was founded in 1985 by Evelyn Gaudrault. Historically, INI trips provided an opportunity for nurses and other health care professionals to spend two weeks living and working with underserved communities in the developing Caribbean nations of Haiti and the Dominican Republic on the island of Hispaniola. More recently, INI has worked exclusively with underserved communities in the Dominican Republic to provide ambulatory health care and health education services.

INI trips are offered several times per year, are led by experienced INI volunteers, and are designed to provide a short-term service learning immersion experience into another culture.
